Added
- Skip and Skat now act out every consumable at the table. Each of the 26 cards has three short scenes, played at whatever the card acts on, a peg, the deck, the crib, the count or your hand. When a card moves a peg, the peg waits for the scene before it goes. Switch them off with Table characters under Gameplay in Settings.
- Your powerups have animals now. Each of the 57 cards has three scenes of its animal acting out its moment at the table, rationed so a card turns up now and then and never more than once a hand.
- When two of your powerups pay off together, on one big play or one after the other in the same hand, their animals can share a scene. Twelve pairs have one so far.
- The Compendium keeps track of the scenes you have seen for each card, and once you have seen one its Watch button plays them again. A scene you have not earned yet shows as a silhouette.
- A New scene banner tells you when you see a scene for the first time, the end-of-match summary lists the scenes you earned, and new ones are marked NEW in the Compendium. A scene skipped because of Reduce motion or Table characters still counts.
- The end-of-match summary now reviews how you played. Its Review button goes hand by hand through your throw, your pegging and your cut, shows the book's keep and the better card where there was one, and picks out the hands that cost you the most. Right after a match, the Hand Log opens from inside the review.
- The By the Book block renames PLAY to THROW and adds a CUTS row for how your cuts fell. Right after a match it also adds a PEGGING row and a line saying how much you left on the table a hand.
- The cut has its moment. On a blind cut the top card lifts and turns slowly, and a jack lands with a short hold. After every cut a grade from Dead cut to Best cut pops up over the card, judged for the four cards you kept. Switch the grade off with Cut grade under Gameplay in Settings.
- Pegging builds toward 31. From 21 the count grows as it climbs, each kind of score has its own sound, a run rings one rising note per card and names its length, score popups grow with the points, and a 31, a double pair royal or five of a kind lands with a short hold.
- Every score moves the peg. A play that scores twice hops twice, most pegs have their own way of moving, and every board answers the landing in its own way.
- In the last ten holes of a race the top bar counts down the holes to go. Passing the rival's peg rings, crossing 30, 60 and 90 ticks, and the summary says when a match or a skunk was decided by a few holes.
- The table shifts a little toward the edge of the screen your mouse pushes on. With a controller or with Reduce motion it stays still.
- The tile key under the board folds down to just its tile shapes with the arrow at its end, and stays folded for your next match.
Improved
- The warm-up is two hands now, and the four-screen primer is gone. Hand one walks you through every step. In hand two you throw, play and count the show yourself, with a hint if you wait and a Show me button that makes the move and says why. It ends straight into your first match.
- Every spoken Coach line in the warm-up and at the start of your first match was written in plainer words and recorded in all six languages.
- Your first campaign match opens with both picks, a powerup and a consumable, then a short tour of where they live. In the full game the picks used to open further up the Long Tally, and the longer table tour no longer plays there.
- Pausing the match pauses the Coach mid-word, and the line picks up where it stopped.
- Pegs are a little bigger, with an outline that reads on every board. Where the board is tight, a peg sits in its hole as a cap.
- Rivals, the Pedlar and the pegs talk in plainer, more distinct voices. Most rival lines that are not spoken aloud were rewritten, along with some bios, shop lines and peg lines.
- A show that scores nothing now gets a muted trumpet.
- A Mine played on a crib that is already yours is refused and stays in your pocket, instead of being spent for nothing.
- The Events log now says when a protection powerup, yours or the rival's, holds a peg or shortens its slide.
- The Rare label in the Compendium is easier to read.
Fixed
- A rival holding a pile of gold now spends it down at its shop windows instead of sitting on it.
- The Coach's written tips and comments on your throw are now in your language. They were in English in every translation.
- The top bar's leg count and the Reverse tag are now in your language. They were in English in every translation.
- French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian now call a fifteen by its number, not a word for a fortnight or about fifteen, and French and Italian tell the running count apart from the count of a show. The voiced lines that changed were recorded again.
- Six voiced lines were corrected and recorded again. Brigadier Tusk now names the Ice Tankard the way the trophy does in German and Spanish, and the Coach's line about who deals the next leg uses the table's word for a leg in French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. About thirty written lines in tips, tour captions, an accomplishment and the muggins quiz were corrected too.
- The crib and pocket labels at the table read as whole phrases in every language. French showed DU RIVAL CRÈCHE.
- Settings switches now say Enabled in your language. The word was English in every translation.
- The Go call over your hand sits above your cards instead of rising through them.
- At the largest text size the rows of a show's count panel no longer cut into each other.
- An Enter pressed while a count panel slides away no longer dismisses the next count before you see it.
- When Turnabout sends the rival's peg back during pegging, the board and the pegging summary now show it.
- A rival's board prize appears in its pocket when its peg lands on the tile, not before.
- Leaving the pause menu with B during a table tour no longer skips the tour.
